The Aiguillesde Bavella
The Aiguilles de Bavella massif is one of the most striking sites in Southern Corsica, with its granite peaks, forest and panoramic views making it a prime destination for a day trip from Porto-Vecchio, which is located approximately 43 km away, with a journey time of around one hour in normal conditions. The journey itself is part of the experience. It passes through cooler areas, the vegetation changes, and it gradually climbs towards the Bavella Pass, located at an altitude of approximately 1,218 metres. Once there, several walks start from the same point, so you don't have to make multiple journeys.
Trou de la Bombe
This is the most well-known hike in the area, often described as both accessible and spectacular. The route leads to a natural arch carved into the rock, from which there is a breathtaking view of the landscape. The estimated duration is around 3 hours for the round trip, with a moderate elevation gain.
Practical Advice
- Set off early in the morning to avoid the heat and to find a parking space at the pass
- Take enough water with you
- Wear good walking shoes
- Bring a windproof jacket, even in summer (the pass can be windy)
