Hikes in theAlta Rocca area
Another face of southern Corsica, Alta Rocca is a region of mountains and low-lying hills, located just above the Porto-Vecchio coastline, where people often come to enjoy a real break from it all. Here, the air is cooler, the landscapes more rugged, and the atmosphere gives way to winding roads, forests and hilltop villages. Here, you discover a more rural, more intimate Corsica, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the beaches.
From Porto-Vecchio, the journeys to Zonza and the Alta Rocca valleys are easy to make by car, with distances that are still manageable for a day trip.
Key villages: Zonza, Levie, Quenza
Zonza is often the first village you reach when coming from the coast, and it is a good starting point from which to explore the trails and sites of the Alta Rocca area. Levie is home to the Alta Rocca Museum. Further west, Quenza provides access to less frequented trails.
